Overview

A dark mirror of civilized martial nobility: aristocratic in bearing, disciplined, contemptuous, intimidating, and convinced divine favor proves his superiority over ordinary humanity. His Tzeentchian alignment expresses elevation and transcendence more than mutation or scheming clichés. He regards Imperial morality, ordinary soldiers, and conventional religion as surpassed.

During his earliest trials, he cooperates opportunistically with Craeven because the Magus materially improves his chance of success. Rehlos assumes that Magi are manipulative and expects Craeven to be particularly dangerous. He tolerates Craeven’s attempted influence because Craeven is useful and because predictable manipulation can itself be accounted for and exploited.

Established Characterization

Rehlos remains aristocratic, martial, contemptuous, and disciplined. His authority emerges through demonstrated military competence during the Raven Host Proving. He eventually commands a larger Raven Host formation containing Marauders, lesser Chaos warriors, cultists, auxiliaries, and other troops. Craeven, Carsybe, and Mourgrim become the best-known figures at the center of that command.

Relationships

  • Craeven - early opportunistic partner and later principal Magus and sorcerous adviser. Rehlos never naively trusts him and expects his attempts at indirect control. Each believes he understands the other better than he is understood.
  • Carsybe - principal Zealot and religious authority within Rehlos’s later field command; accepts Rehlos’s temporal military authority.
  • Mourgrim - standout front-line Marauder and shock warrior. Rehlos gives him a target and relies on his extraordinary ability to reach it and keep fighting.
