WAR and the End Times

Goal

Develop a usable branch in which the Age of Reckoning can lead toward selected End Times material without pretending the two published narratives already fit together.

Working Method

  1. Preserve the pre-divergence WHFB foundation.
  2. Treat WAR’s Age of Reckoning as the branch’s primary account of the great late-era war.
  3. Import an End Times development only when it does not erase an established WAR event or character premise.
  4. When both versions occupy the same narrative space, record the collision before choosing a bridge.
  5. Mark every bridge as tentative until its downstream effects are checked across factions and chronology.

Provisional Patches

Archaon’s war

Status: Tentative. WAR’s northern invasion may be treated as an earlier phase, theatre, or failed culmination of Archaon’s larger campaign rather than the final form of the End Times invasion. The exact relationship between WAR’s Chaos leadership and Archaon’s later movements remains unresolved.

Ulthuan

Status: Tentative. WAR’s Dark Elf invasion is retained as a major prior campaign whose losses and political consequences help destabilize Ulthuan before later End Times crises. This does not yet resolve incompatible fates, allegiances, or the timing of the elven civil conflict.

Karaz Ankor and the Greenskin war

Status: Tentative. WAR’s Greenskin offensives are treated as part of the escalating collapse of the old defensive order. Individual sieges, fallen holds, and named-character fates remain unresolved until the WAR campaign sequence is indexed.

Karak Eight Peaks

Status: PROVISIONAL HARMONIZATION. The Dwarfs may have maintained a substantial fortified settlement or garrison in Dwarf-controlled parts of Karak Eight Peaks, perhaps upper or surface sections, without cleansing the entire ancient karak. Grumlok and Gazbag’s attack could then destroy that garrison and capture the principal Dwarf-held stronghold, yielding WAR’s account of the fall while preserving Belegar’s incomplete reconquest and Skarsnik and Queek’s wider presence. This requires checking against primary WAR quest and campaign sources.

Unresolved Contradictions

  • The exact dating and duration of WAR’s campaign relative to the End Times.
  • Whether Tchar’zanek’s offensive fails, fractures, or is superseded by later Chaos leadership.
  • Whether Grumlok and Gazbag’s Waaagh! is checked without eliminating the Greenskin threat.
  • Whether Malekith’s invasion fails to permanently conquer Ulthuan and how that affects later elven events.
  • How the loose Destruction alignment loses cohesion after the immediate campaigns.
  • Conflicting locations, allegiances, and fates of major canonical figures.
  • Whether WAR’s capital campaigns occurred literally, partially, or as unrealized gameplay end states.
  • Which realm and city outcomes become durable history.
  • How the WAR branch reaches the End Times’ existential escalation without nullifying the player ensemble’s earlier campaigns.
  • Which End Times deaths and transformations remain applicable after WAR divergences.

Excluded Frameworks

Storm of Chaos is not part of this harmonization project. Similarities may be noted as publication context only when useful, but it supplies neither events nor patches for vault continuity.
